Friday night I had the opportunity to catch the San Luis Obispo band Lakes at The Refuge. Fronted by Seth Roberts, also of Bonnie Dune, who I had seen perform back in April at San Francisco’s Bottom of the Hill, the band took the stage and I immediately dug their sound, which reminded me of the Seattle band Barcelona.
Two years after they opened their doors to live music, The Refuge is still booking all-ages biweekly Friday night music shows. I spoke with their booking agent, Casey McCracken, who told me that he tries to bring in all types of music, as to appeal to a larger number of people.
On Friday, June 17, The Refuge will host the Adrian Bourgeois & Ricky Berger Homecoming Show, and include local favorites Musical Charis and Autumn Sky. So put this one of the calendar, kids, and we’ll see you there!
